bubbles and a stomach bug

We did not have a good Saturday yesterday. Presley started throwing up at 11 am. I thought it was just a fluke at first, but then she couldn't hold anything down later and had a 102.6 temp. Poor honey! I know she felt awful because she just laid on the couch with Jeremiah sucking her pappy. She stayed up last night until 10 because I was scared she wasn't done with the vomiting yet. We kept asking her if she was ready to go to bed and she said no until 10! Thankfully when she went to sleep then, she slept all night. Poor baby didn't wake up until 10 am. She's been better today....she has actually held down cheerios and some pedialyte. I am sick of watching Yo Gabba Gabba though! ;)

We went outside and played for about 15 minutes yesterday before we realized that it was a full on stomach bug. Presley enjoyed the bubbles. But boy did she go downhill quickly. A short time later she was so sickly and puny.

I love how she's pointing in these first two pictures!

19 months!

Presley at 19 months. Where do I even begin? It seems like this month she has grown leaps and bounds and definitely had a language explosion! I am desperately hoping that with this better communication comes a better behaved toddler! Ha ha! I can hear all of you laughing at me as I type this. Just let me dream please!

Ok, on to the THE PRESLEY LIST...
~in addition to main body parts, she can now find eyebrows, eyelashes, knee, elbow, chin, & neck
~this girl sings all. the. time. what's even cuter is that she'll go in the middle of the floor and sway in circles and sing! it just melts my heart! :)
~can wink now! although it mainly consists of scrunching up her nose and closing her eyes a little bit, it's still cute!
~if we have a drink with a straw, that's what Presley has to have too. she still drinks out of a sippy cup but only if no straw is in sight!
~if you are playing with her, say tickling her and she wants you to stop, she starts shaking her head and says "all done"
~Presley says a ton of new things since last month, but these are a few of my favorites. "owaa' for owl, "jush" for juice, "thao" for thank you (don't ask why this changed...she used to say it more clearly), "baaw" for bow, & "paba" for pasta.

Most days Presley is a good eater and some days it's like she doesn't eat anything! 99% of the time she refuses veggies. & when I say refuse I mean 'does anything necessary to not swallow them'. Like spitting them out at me if I try to hid them in applesauce. Hey, it used to work! Well, I still refuse to be outsmarted by a toddler! HA! So I bought some fruity V8 juice and started giving that at snack time instead of just apple juice. Score 1 for mommy! Because she totally sucks it down! (I can't claim the V8 idea as mine, Karri thought of it!) I'm sure that most nutritionists would frown upon giving your kid a sugary drink as a substitute for vegetables, but you know what? These toddler years are tough, and you do what you gotta do!

Everything else is pretty much still the same...sleeping, napping, clothing size, etc. I'm starting to toy around with the idea of moving Presley into a big girl bed. I'm just not sure I can handle her being un-caged just yet! & the age-old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind! =)

back to business

Sorry we've been MIA in the blogging world! I just know y'all missed us so much! ;) I have pretty much been in bed all weekend with an awful case of bronchitis. It started Wednesday night at work and just hasn't let up so I went to the doctor this morning. I started antibiotics today and I feel a little bit better tonight. Hopefully I'll feel a lot better tomorrow, because I'll be headed into work regardless! Jeremiah has been a saint! He completely took over the mommy job, and let me tell ya, that ain't no easy role to fill! Ha ha! ;) He did a GREAT job taking care of me and Presley this weekend! Thanks honey! We love you!

So now on to Presley's month post, which is almost a week late....

Alicia Keys better watch out!

my favorite part is the "ewww...she's spitting in it!" ha ha ha ha! =)

bowling baby

Yesterday we took Presley bowling for the first time. It went better than I had envisioned it. We only had a few major meltdowns and fell out of a chair once, but we didn't bust a lip or break anything....so I consider that a major success! :) We went with some buddies and had a great time. I think Jaden & Kole would have a great time, so we may be going back sooner rather than later!
They had this metal ramp thingy (that you obviously see in the pictures!) that let little ones bowl without hurting themselves! It was pretty cool! Presley got the hang of it really quick and would run to the ball return thingy and try to pick up a ball. I would help her carry it out to Jeremiah who was at the ramp thingy and then she would push it down all by herself. I realize what a big girl she is at moments like that and it makes me sad. :(

side note::::I have NO idea why this pictures are different sizes and it's driving me nuts! I uploaded them the same way! Ahhhhh! It's ok....I'm letting go now!::::end side note
She was so funny to watch! When the ball was rolling down the lane, she would clap and laugh and jump up and down. She just thought it was hilarious to push it and then watch it roll!

We didn't even get through the whole game. Our hour was up before we knew it! Oh well, I don't think a toddler could have lasted much longer anyway....I had started going for Presley the last few frames we played. Stinkin' Jeremiah won! I finished ahead of Presley, but only by like, a few points! She's a natural!

my funny little artist

Presley colored her first picture today. Well, not really. She has colored two before but I hung them up on the fridge where she could see them, and um, yeah, big mistake! She ripped them right off and then proceeded to rip them up! Lesson learned and now her beautiful picture is hanging up high on the fridge where she can still see it but not rip it up! :)

I wanted to post about some of the funny things that Presley has been doing lately before I forget about them. I was laying in her floor the other night playing with her and I had my eyes closed. She said "mama" once and when I didn't answer her the first time she said it again. Then instead of yelling it (which she does 15 million times a day, so this was odd!) she calmly came over and pulled my eyelid open and said mama again! It was so funny!

We go to church in Gulf Breeze which requires us to use the Garcon Point Bridge. We used to have to stop every Sunday and pay the toll. Now we have a Sunpass so we just drive on through the booth. Every time we go through it, Presley claps her hands and says "all done"! Ha ha! I guess she's glad we don't have to stop anymore?

In the middle of Presley's sickness last week, we found out that she knows how to blow her nose! Ha ha! I was wiping her nose and just instinctively said "blow" then thought for a split second she can't do that. Well, I was wrong! She now asks for a tissue and just goes to town blowing that nose!

E is for exercise

Presley has been watching me exercise lately. She loves to get in on the action and mimic whatever I'm doing. It's pretty cute! :) This morning between getting pjs off and getting church clothes on, she decided to get in a quick session! Ha ha!

She was stomping her feet here, like she was running! =)

Magic Napkin

Here is the video of Presley performing her magic trick! Excuse all the background noise....it's when we had all the kids over and ALL of us are talking at one time!

here I go....

I don't do resolutions. I just can't stick with them. So instead I'm hoping a picture will motivate me. Sure I have some other goals such as organizing the house, painting a few rooms, getting finances in order....blah, blah, blah. But I AM going to lose weight. I have put on some extra pounds over the last 2 years....living in California will do that to you! But pregnancy really did me in. I gained 30 pounds, which is the norm, but I haven't lost any of it. I thought breastfeeding would just melt the pounds off.....ha ha! Yeah right, not for me! Then I got back into the bad habit of eating lots of desserts and drinking empty calories. (sodas & tea, not alcohol just in case anyone was wondering!) In hindsight, I'm sure these things were comforting to me as I was trying to navigate the difficult waters of being a first-time mom. Yikes!

I'm not hoping to look like I did when I was 17 or even 21, because I am not 17 or even 21 anymore. I am 26 years old and I have birthed a human. I am incredibly proud of my body for that. I just wish I wasn't still carrying the evidence around! :) The only time I have ever lost weight in my life was for my wedding 4 1/2 years ago. So I am sticking to the plan that helped me look fabulous in my gown. I exercised, only ate one dessert a week, and only drank a coke or sweet tea once a week as well. whew! It's going to be hard no doubt. Especially quitting those yummies! I think the biggest thing for me is that I want to be healthy. And eating what I do and not exercising is NOT healthy. I want to be able to have the energy to run around with Presley. I'm sure that I probably will falter more than once, but as long as I get up and don't quit then I haven't failed. Right? At least that's what I'm telling myself! So, wish me luck!

Here is the picture that I am using for inspiration. This was 3 months before our wedding. Man, I looked good! ;)

and in other non-related news, Presley is feeling better! I think that it must have been allergies because the Claritin has definitely helped. =)

1/1/11

Poor Presley spent New Years sick! Not that she even knows or cares what New Years is, but still I felt bad for her. I'm not sure if it's a cold or just allergies. I'm leaning more toward allergies because her eyes are watering and her nose is running, but that's it. I gave her some Claritin yesterday and again today and she seems a little better. Her eyes watering makes her look so sad though! I hate seeing it!

On top of that, Presley has a cold sore on her bottom lip. I have no clue where she got it from. Maybe someone kissed her that has them or she could have gotten it from the church nursery. Either way it makes me want to smack somebody for giving it to my baby and now she'll never get rid of the virus that causes them. :( Oh and icing on the cake....she's teething! Her molars are SO swollen in her little gums. Presley has been such a trooper through it all. We went shopping yesterday and she hung in there all day! I know, we're awesome parents aren't we? ;)

& I promised pictures from last night so here they are.

Here is the AWESOME cross picture Karri gave me! I absolutely love it! Our friend Holli's mom made it. She totally sells them at a gallery in her hometown. And I am now the proud owner of one! =)

I had to hang it up immediately. It now has a permanent home in the foyer!
