all is well....in Rebel land!

Thank goodness Presley is over being sick! Ugh, it was awful! She hasn't had any fever since Tuesday. Yesterday she had a rash pop up on her abdomen and her back, but it was gone this morning. So, I'm not really sure what the sickness was, but I'm sure glad it's gone! =)

Isn't this dress to die for?! I've been eying it forever but REFUSE to pay $70 for it. I don't even spend that much on my clothes...seriously! So, today I found it at a local consignment store for $13.99! I about died! I couldn't believe they had it...because most people here in FL are Seminole or Gator fans....yuck! ;) Just kidding! AND because it was 18 mo size. I got super lucky today! Thanks so much Mama for buying it! Love you!

Have a happy Friday tomorrow! =)

something you never get used to

is your baby being sick. :( Poor Presley has had a fever of 102 or greater for 3 days now. We went to see Dr. P this morning and she said it's probably just something viral. She said she has seen Fifth disease (parvo virus) going around the community and it's been really bad this year. I don't know if many of you remember or not....but that's what I was exposed to when I was 14 weeks pregnant and had to go the the high risk OB for 3 months for weekly ultrasounds to make sure Sweet Pea was ok. NOT fun! Dr. P said that the fever has been lasting 3-5 days, then an awful rash appears 1-2 days after that. Even though there is not much we can do about it, I'm still glad we when to the doctor. Because I would have FREAKED out when I saw a monster rash on my baby!

& in other news, Presley is now pointing with one finger and saying "tha" to pretty much, everything. It's pretty cute! I'm sure I won't be thinking that later on! ha!

whooooooo's ready for fall?

Ok so I admit it.....I'm [little] obsessed with bird/owl clothing. Maybe it all started with Presley's nursery, who knows. Anyway I can't wait for fall (well I should say cooler weather because in Florida there is a BIG difference!) to get here. Presley has some pretty cute new clothes and it has to be less than 90 degrees outside for her to wear them them. ;)

Oh my gosh! Isn't this just to die for! SWOON! :)
Presley loves this hat! Ha ha! She's pretty stinkin' cute in it too!
I think she's ready for cooler weather too! =)

15 months!

PRESLEY! Mama can't believe that you are 15 months old today! It seems like with each "month" post you become so much more of a big girl. I feel like tomorrow you will wake up and ask for the car keys so you can go to work! Ha!

Here are some of the things you are doing right now-
~when we start singing "the clean up" song you immediately stop whatever it is that you are doing and start picking up the things that you were playing with. It is so cute. I'm not really sure who exactly you learned this from since Pawpaw, Kameron and I all started singing it to you at about the same time!

~you can imitate the sounds that a kitty, monkey, sheep, cow, lamb, tractor, car and truck make. =)

~when we sit down to eat a meal you put your hands together and start jibbering like you are praying! & you always say "ame" at the end!

~you say "shs" for shoes & you absolutely LOVE to put them on! You will bring them to us and start saying bye bye when we put them on you.

~you love to throw things away in the trash. It's kinda weird but, you are a good little cleaner upper!

~you have begun to shake your head "no" when we ask you questions. It's cute because you can't quite turn your head side to side so you just settle for shaking it to the left. You look very much like Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan from "A Night at the Roxbury"! Ha! :)

You still wear 12- 18 month (mainly 18 mo) clothes in most brands and you wear a size 4 shoe. I'm not sure how much you weigh now, but it can't be more than 20 lbs. That's how much you weighed at your last visit with Dr. P and I think you are just getting taller, not rounder!

You are still an ok eater. But it's becoming harder and harder to get you to eat veggies. Boy will you chow down on some fruit though! ANY kind of fruit! I think you have a sweet tooth like your mama! ;) You love to drink milk, water and juice. (I say juice but really it's like water with a splash of juice!)

Well, that's it for this month sweet girl! It makes me so happy to see you grow and yet so sad at the same time. I know that I'll never have today again with you....tomorrow you'll be just a little bit older. Every day is such a gift and I treasure every moment that I have with you! I love you!

edited to add- My friend Sarah took the first picture. I wish my camera was that awesome!

Show us your life- Living Room

Today, Kelly at Kelly's Korner is hosting a tour of living rooms. And while ours is still kinda boring (it has taken us 3 years to get this far! ha!) I'm going to show you anyway! It is still the builder's beige....yuck! I have tried to jazz it up without painting but I'm thinking it needs to be painted soon. I would love a deep brown, but our kitchen is a pretty bold, deep red and I don't want it to seem like we live in a cave! & don't be fooled.....it's NEVER this clean! It's just leftover from me vacuuming in here. It normally looks like a toy factory exploded.

We'll start with the entryway, since it's kind of in the living room! The sign above the door says "Home is where your story begins". I love it!

A close up of the drawing our friend Emily did for us. Isn't she like ridiculously talented?! It's the gazebo where we got married.
You'll have to excuse the exersaucer. Presley doesn't use it anymore, but it's the only thing that keeps her from playing with the lamp in the corner!

close up of the wall arrangement. I like it a lot, but would like to add some pictures of Presley in here. Any suggestions on placements of them?
Here is a cabinet that Jeremiah made a few years ago while he worked at a cabinet shop. I just love it! It's so tall- our ceilings are 9 feet and it goes almost to the top of the wall. We have had to keep moving our breakables higher up the shelf, because Presley gets a little too curious!
This wreath is my wedding bouquet. I sent it off the day after our wedding to a company and they returned it a few months later in this fabulous condition!
Probably my least favorite area. I love the shelf because my dad built it, but the wires behind it drive me NUTS! I'm trying to talk Jeremiah into dropping the wires behind the wall so it just looks like the TV is floating. I think that will be much nicer looking! Notice that things have also been moved higher up here?
& finally my favorite cross
Thanks for stopping by! =)

Thankful on Thursday

I don't have many friends, I never have. I am one of those kind of people that just have a few close friends. I might have a lot of acquaintances....you know the kind of people you just say hi to every once in a while on facebook or something. But not really a lot of best friends. Anyway, it didn't really use to bother me until Presley was born. I started freaking out wondering who I was going to bond with as a new mom and thinking Presley would never have any friends because we wouldn't meet friends as a couple (Presley and I) and we wouldn't be able to have any play dates, and on and on. I got anxious just thinking about it.

I found the Mommy & Me group when Presley was probably 2 or 3 weeks old. I didn't go until she was 6 or 7 weeks just out of fear of HOW to go. (Looking back I wish I had gone sooner and just got over my fear of how to talk to people and realized that Presley nor I had to look perfect and have the "in" accessories in order to go. Sorry, I'm rambling!) So, I met a couple of people with babies around Presley's age and it has taken me a year to venture outside of just talking about going and doing things with them, to actually doing them! We had lunch with Amanda a few times while Piper and Presley were still so little that we just left them sleeping in their carseats! But other than that, we haven't done anything. That's were my self-pitying comes in. I get to thinking that I'm the only one who doesn't have any friends, and blah, blah, blah. Yucky mood ensues.

~Saturday, two weeks ago, we went to a splash pad in Pensacola with Sarah & John Parker and then went and ate cupcakes. Then the following Friday we went to Amanda & Piper's house to eat lunch, swim and play. (It was our first time in someone's home and Presley did so great. I pictured her swinging off their fans and biting Piper or something!) And today we had Kimberly & Anna over for breakfast and to play! I've enjoyed these last few weeks with all of these mamas so much. Motherhood is SO bonding. No one else understands how you feel other than other mamas. I never thought I could be so connected to someone through discussing tantrums, naps (or lack of) and poop!

So, today I am so thankful for mama friends, even the few ones that I do have. I hope the trend of all of our play dates continues. Sometimes I just need to make myself call people and DO things.

ladybugs and pigtails

Here is Presley before church this morning. It cracks me up that in both pictures she has her mouth open like she is saying something! Well, she probably was! She does talk a lot! Ha!

And this is horrible quality since it's from my cell phone, but the pig tails are cute nonetheless! These *might* have to make another appearance soon! =) & don't mind the toothbrush she's chewing on....I promise it was just for a second so I could catch the shot and then it got taken away.

Jaden's 5th!

Tuesday was our nephew Jaden's 5th birthday, but today we had his party. So, naturally he thought today was his actual birthday! Ha! We went to Benny Russell Park in Pace and let the kids play and then had cake and ice cream and opened presents. Very low key, very our style!

I can't believe it's been 5 years already! We love you Jaden!

little farm girl

Presley seriously loves this book! She will bring it to you over and over again. & she's obviously been paying attention to what we are saying because she doesn't even need the book to know the animal sounds anymore. You can just ask her what the animals say and she'll deliver! =)

the sweetest sound

weekend fun!

We went downtown to the splash pad Saturday and had tons of fun! We had a picnic for lunch and then played in the water. Sorry there are no pictures of the latter, but I get nervous bringing my camera around water! But I must say Miss Presley was mighty cute in her new swimsuit! :)

& then here are some pictures of today at my parents' house. Presley was in a great mood until she met the stairs. Ha! She wanted to climb up and down them by herself and when Mommy wouldn't let her, she pitched a ROYAL fit. I'm talking screaming, crying, throwing herself down for like 20 min. straight. It didn't help that she was sleepy either. She hasn't been taking good naps lately. Anyway, here is the sweet girl in her giving Kole kisses!

Our friend Karri with the kiddos!

My girl looking SUPER big!

Notice the scary steps? Yeah, Mommy was not going to have a baby with a broken leg...or head just because little Miss wanted to do it by herself! Independence must be found elsewhere!

Hope y'all had a great weekend too! =)

the to-do list that never gets done

It seems like every day that I have off is jam packed with catching up on laundry, housework, grocery shopping, trying to spend quality time with Presley....yada yada yada. I feel like I have no time for fun "me" things, relaxing, or even my own personal to do list. Well, I've been doing a lot of thinking recently and this is going to change! After all, a happy mama = a happy family, right? Maybe if I put what I want to do down in writing (well at least in a blog post!) then maybe I will be more motivated to do things cross them off! So here goes!
  • overhaul the master bath- paint, redo the cabinets, find more artwork.
  • finish the master bedroom- hang curtains, make a bible verse painting(s)
  • get Presley's pictures finally printed and framed and hung in the living room
  • make Presley's bag (I need to know how to sew first....any takers on teaching me?)
  • get the monogramming thing going
  • get Presley's closet organized
  • hem the living room curtains
  • OAMC with my mom! *this date has been set- 9/25* yay!!
So most of these things are house related, but oh well! It's a little sad that we have lived here for 3 years and don't have majority of the house decorated! I'm working on it slowly but surely!
