The Story Of Us

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone had a great candy-filled night! We sure did! We went to Immanuel Baptist Church’s trunk or treat. They had lots of candy, bouncy houses, a gigantic inflatable slide, and free food! (they were some delicious hot dogs too) Presley dressed up this year as Peppa Pig. It is, without a doubt, her favorite TV show right now. And it has made her obsessed with all things pig related! I’m pretty sure no one knew who she was, but that’s ok. She knew she was Peppa and that’s all that mattered!

Presley was laughing in the first picture because she saw a car decorated like cookie monster. She thought that was hilarious!

Chloe (on the left) was a pretty princess being oinked at by Peppa! And then on the right were Peppa, Sully from Monsters, Inc., Rapunzel (of course!) and a football player! I thought they all looked fabulous!

Daddy had the best costume…a handsome dude! And Mommy was a black-eyed P! get it? yeah, it took some people a minute!

I know some Christians declare celebrating Halloween sinful. But honestly, to me, everyday is the Lord’s day. Why give it away to the devil? We always celebrate 10/31 with fun and family anyway, so what’s the harm in getting all dressed up and eating some candy? just my opinion….

This is the day the LORD has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

I think you can see from the dirty face above that we had a good time at the corn maze and the pumpkin patch this year! :) Here is a photo collage of our day!

a walkin’ punkin’

IMG_2323

We went on our first walk with Presley out of a stroller a few weekends ago. We have this great walking trail right by our house that leads to a creek one way and to a park the other way. I don’t know why we don’t use it more often!

IMG_2318IMG_2321

Anyway, Presley wanted us to carry her at first. She said that the cars would come run her over and she would have a boo boo. Poor thing, I guess the trail resembles a road because it’s paved! After a lot of promising that we wouldn’t let a car run her over, she decided she could walk. She was pretty brave looking out over the rail at the water.

 IMG_2322IMG_2324

Then of course, she couldn’t walk home because her shoes were hurting her feet. Presley had decided earlier that she wasn’t going to wear socks with these new shoes. She won both times….not having to wear the socks and not having to walk home! ;)

A quick little funny

Like any normal parents, we throw Presley up in the air and catch her because she thinks it's hilarious and loves it! She has started doing this with her baby dolls. I think it is particularly funny that she just throws the baby down on the ground! I promise we don't do that to her!

halfway to a big girl bed

Today was a sad day in this house….for me anyway.

IMG_2439IMG_2442IMG_2444IMG_2449

We moved Presley into a (semi) big girl bed. I guess we were lucky to get 28 months of her being in a baby jail, I mean, crib!! On Tuesday, when she was getting up from a nap, I caught her on the monitor straddling the side of the crib. After I got over my mini heart attack, I told Jeremiah that our crib days were over. I still can’t believe it! :(

We just took the front of the crib off and put the guard rail on the mattress. It doesn’t fit perfectly. But I’m looking for a twin bed to transition her into. We don’t want to buy a toddler bed that she would only be in for a little bit and we want to keep the crib as a crib for a future nursery.  Actually, we are going to keep all of the nursery furniture together SO, what else do you do but buy all new furniture for little miss? ;)  I’ve been looking for a while and I think big kid furniture decisions are harder than nursery furniture ones were 3 years ago!

For nap today, it took her an hour to fall asleep. She kept getting up and knocking on the door and calling our names. I was surprised that she didn’t play much with the toys in there. Tonight she only got up once and then got right back in bed. I think it was only because she was so tired from not napping long enough earlier. Hopefully she won’t stop napping because of the bed switch!

“it makes me sad too”

IMG_2302IMG_2301IMG_2305

Presley discovered that she can unzip things yesterday.

Unfortunately for us, it was the lap desk for the computer and not just her jacket. I’m guessing the bag (the white thing) inside that held the 50 billion styrofoam balls already had a hole in it. And then she just went to town shaking them out. In my defense, she was NOT quiet during this time and her little hands were hidden by the coffee table from my view in the kitchen. She just looked like she was sitting on the ground innocently playing with some toys. & those stupid balls were crazy static-y, so they stuck to everything, including the vacuum canister when trying to empty it. That was fun. So when I was frustrated later with cleaning it up, I told her that her getting into that made me really sad. She replied with, “it makes me sad too”! Oh, she’s too much sometimes!

Kole’s Tangled Party!

IMG_2239

Kole turned 5 on Saturday! I still can’t believe she’s that old! The kids had so much fun and my mom and I had fun planning it all. If you’ve read this blog for any length of time, you know that the kids love Tangled. So for Kole’s party, Tangled was the only way to go!

IMG_2222IMG_2225

Rapunzel paint as favors and Pascal party blowers! Almost all of our great ideas came from this site.

IMG_2227IMG_2228

Kole was in awe of the tower! I was so happy that she liked it, cause it was a pain in the rear to put together! When reading the directions, it seemed simple enough. I took a wrong turn when I decided to do a cake base instead of a styrofoam base like Bakerella said to do…pssh, what does she know anyway? ;) so even though I hot-glued the dowel rod to the cake board, it was still too much weight and it ended up leaning and eventually falling over. We used fishing line to try to salvage it enough for pictures! I guess this is where the ghetto Rapunzel would live!!!

IMG_2244IMG_2245

An up close of the jello boats we made. Such a cute idea for any party!

IMG_2237

Tangled gifts!  =)

IMG_2254

Presley couldn’t figure out how to do it, so she just held it for her Daddy to blow it for her!

IMG_2255

The playhouse got a Tangled makeover too! My Dad & Kameron did this with no directions and I have to say that I was impressed! Most of the time if you give men some streamers and balloons and tell them to just decorate it however, it doesn’t turn out this great!!!

IMG_2260

No Tangled party would be complete without painting! Even Presley got in on the action, but would only hold the brush for a second, then say “yuck, my hand id stiddy” (sticky) and promptly command me to paint what she wanted to paint. That girl’s a mess!!

IMG_2266IMG_2275

The result of the above painting! It kinda stained their skin! Oops!! Presley found the cure though, when she soaked her hands in the watery soap basin for like 15 min. No, she’s not a small genius. She was just having fun playing in it! Her feet though were a different story.

IMG_2280IMG_2281

I totally forgot to take a picture of the front door that day. There was a long Rapunzel-like braid hanging on it. Oh well, my mom said she’d re-do the door and get a picture!

Thanks Mama for always allowing me to help with the kids’ parties! I have such a great time doing it! :)
